MHC Maintenance Supervisor
About this role
The role is for a Maintenance Supervisor overseeing maintenance activities for Mobile Harbour Cranes at a terminal in Rivers. The aim is to ensure safe, reliable and efficient container operations by planning, coordinating and supervising maintenance on cranes, spreaders and related systems. The position requires leading crane technicians and coordinating with OEMs, contractors and service providers while maintaining records and driving continuous improvement.
What you would do
- Supervise preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance of Mobile Harbour Cranes, spreaders and auxiliary systems.
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with OEM standards, statutory requirements and terminal procedures.
- Prioritise and close defects from statutory inspections and examiner defect lists.
- Provide planning input on manpower, spare parts, tools and task sequencing to minimise downtime.
- Monitor equipment performance and initiate proactive maintenance actions.
- Lead and supervise crane technicians, electricians and mechanics with effective task allocation and handovers.
- Analyse breakdowns, perform root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Track and review maintenance KPIs such as availability, MTBF, MTTR and PM/CM ratios.
- Enforce HSE standards including toolbox talks, risk assessments and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
- Provide advanced technical troubleshooting for mechanical, electrical and hydraulic crane systems.

- HND or bachelor's degree (BEng) in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- Strong understanding of electrical and hydraulic systems; ability to read and apply technical drawings and schematics.
- Knowledge of Siemens PLCs and control systems; proficiency with Siemens STEP 7 SIMATIC Manager.
- Experience with Siemens SINAMICS drives for operation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Minimum of 3 years' supervisory maintenance experience.
- Experience designing and implementing maintenance programmes.
- Experience in spare parts criticality management and asset maintenance planning.
- Understanding of safety regulations and requirements in terminal, port or industrial operations.
- Experience coaching and developing technical staff through training.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and experience using CMMS (e.g., IFS, SAP PM or similar).
