Metadata and Data Lineage Specialist

A Metadata and Data Lineage Specialist is sought to establish and operate the organisation's metadata management and data lineage capabilities. The role focuses on making the data catalogue useful, enabling teams to find, trust, and understand data while tracing data movement and transformations across systems. What you would do

• Develop and maintain end-to-end data lineage for key data flows, products, reports and customer journeys across source systems and pipelines.
• Maintain and enhance enterprise metadata and data cataloguing, including business glossaries, definitions and ownership within DataHub.
• Establish metadata quality rules and KPIs, run assessments, and support governance alignment.
• Engage with data producers and consumers through workshops to improve data literacy and adoption of DataHub.
• Classify data based on sensitivity and regulatory requirements to support risk and compliance needs.
• Support administration and optimisation of the DataHub platform, including configuring ingestion workflows and monitoring ingestion jobs.
• Pursue automation and API-driven improvements to metadata collection and coverage, including AI-assisted techniques.
• Contribute to semantic models, knowledge graphs and AI-enhanced data discovery initiatives.
• Assist risk, compliance and information security teams with lineage information for assessments.
• Promote data literacy and uptake of metadata management across the organisation.

• 3–6 years of experience in metadata management, data governance, data architecture or data engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Management, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering).
• Hands-on experience with enterprise data catalog platforms (e.g., Solidatus, Informatica, DataHub) or similar tools.
• Experience developing end-to-end data lineage in complex data environments.
• Familiarity with modern data architectures (Medallion, Data Mesh, Data Vault 2.0, data warehouses, data lakes, cloud platforms).
• Strong SQL and relational database skills.
• Experience with APIs, ETL/ELT pipelines and automated metadata integration.
• Strong stakeholder management and training facilitation skills.
• Knowledge of AI-assisted metadata management, semantic modelling, ontologies and knowledge graphs.
• Professional certifications in Data Management or Architecture (e.g., DAMA CDMP) or similar platforms are advantageous.
