Mental Health & Psychosocial Support Officer (MHPSS)

About this role

A MHPSS Officer in Borno responsible for implementing and monitoring mental health and psychosocial support activities for children, adolescents, caregivers and communities, including HEART and related services, and coordinating with partners and programmes.

What you would do

• Implement and monitor quality MHPSS activities such as HEART, psychosocial support groups, life skills and caregiver sessions
• Supervise structured psychosocial support activities for beneficiaries
• Train, mentor and supervise facilitators, volunteers, teachers and community workers in HEART, PFA and MHPSS approaches
• Identify vulnerable individuals and coordinate safe, timely referrals to specialised services
• Support assessments, planning, implementation and integration with other programmes (Child Protection, Education, Health, Nutrition)
• Conduct field monitoring, manage and report programme data with confidentiality and data protection compliance

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, counselling, social work, mental health or related field
• 2-3 years of relevant MHPSS experience in humanitarian, development or community settings
• Experience delivering psychosocial support, case management, PFA and referrals
• Experience working with children, adolescents, caregivers, women and conflict-affected communities
• Knowledge of IASC MHPSS guidelines and safe referral pathways
• Strong facilitation, training, communication and interpersonal skills
