Medical Physicist (Brachytherapy)
About this role
The Medical Physicist (Brachytherapy) at AMCE Abuja is responsible for the safe, precise delivery of brachytherapy and will oversee treatment planning, radiation safety, quality assurance and equipment management for HDR and LDR services within a multidisciplinary oncology team. The role requires a minimum of five years of clinical brachytherapy physics experience. The position is aimed at experienced clinical physicists working in brachytherapy.
What you would do
- Plan HDR and LDR brachytherapy treatments.
- Verify dose calculations and optimise treatment plans.
- Operate, calibrate, and perform acceptance testing on brachytherapy planning systems and remote afterloaders.
- Develop and manage a quality assurance programme for brachytherapy equipment, sources and procedures.
- Manage radiation safety, including handling, storage, receipt and monitoring of sources, and staff training.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team and represent the medical physics section on institutional committees.

- Minimum of five years' clinical experience in brachytherapy physics, with hands-on HDR and/or LDR experience.
- Experience in brachytherapy treatment planning, source management, and radiation safety protocols.
- Experience commissioning brachytherapy equipment and developing clinical protocols.
- Hands-on experience with brachytherapy planning systems, dosimetry equipment, and afterloading machines.
- Strong knowledge of radiation physics, radiobiology, and brachytherapy principles.
- Experience in training or supervising staff in a clinical physics environment.
