About this role
The Medical Laboratory Scientist – Stem Cell role at AMCE Abuja will plan and carry out stem cell experiments, including cellular reprogramming and differentiation, and manage data analysis to support regenerative medicine research. The position operates within a 500-bed specialist hospital and involves collaboration with clinicians, molecular biologists and bioinformaticians in a multidisciplinary setting. It is suitable for a candidate with a strong stem cell biology background who holds MLSCN registration and has at least three years of post-qualification experience.
What you would do
- Design and execute stem cell experiments with defined protocols and timelines.
- Optimise stem cell isolation, culture, expansion and differentiation protocols.
- Reprogram cells and differentiate them into specific lineages.
- Apply gene-editing techniques and conduct phenotypic assessments.
- Ensure quality and compliance by monitoring cultures, conducting contamination checks and maintaining SOPs.
- Analyse data, manage electronic records and prepare reports and presentations.
What they are asking for
- Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science (B.MLS/BMLS) from an accredited institution.
- Postgraduate qualification in Stem Cell Biology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Haematology, Immunology or related discipline (added advantage).
- Current licensure/registration with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) or equivalent.
- Minimum of three years post-qualification experience in stem cell processing, cellular therapy, bone marrow transplant, haematology or regenerative medicine laboratory.
- Proficiency in advanced techniques including cell culture, flow cytometry, PCR, immunophenotyping and immunohistochemistry.
- Experience with Laboratory Information Systems or electronic lab documentation systems; strong analytical and communication skills.
