Medical Laboratory Scientist - Immunophenotyping
About this role
AMCE Abuja is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist specialising in immunophenotyping to provide expert flow cytometry services for diagnosing and managing suspected leukaemia, lymphoma and related haematological conditions. The role involves performing, analysing and interpreting complex flow cytometry assays and delivering interpretations to support diagnostic reports authorised by consultant haematologists and clinical scientists.
What you would do
- Perform, analyse and interpret complex flow cytometry assays for stem cell analysis, leukaemia, lymphoma and related immunophenotyping applications.
- Develop, optimise and validate new flow cytometry procedures and panels.
- Run and monitor IQC and EQA samples to ensure ISO 15189:2022 compliance and contribute to quality management.
- Operate, calibrate and maintain flow cytometers and related equipment, and manage logs and inventories.
- Provide training and assess competency of junior staff in advanced flow cytometry.
- Collaborate with the Laboratory Manager and clinical team to deliver the AMCE diagnostic portfolio.
What they are asking for
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related field.
- Specialist certification in flow cytometry or immunophenotyping is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a clinical flow cytometry laboratory, preferably in a large or specialist haematology setting.
- Proven expertise in performing and interpreting complex immunophenotyping for leukaemia, lymphoma and stem cell analysis.
- Demonstrated experience in method development, validation and troubleshooting of flow cytometry assays.
- Proficiency in using flow cytometry software and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS); solid understanding of ISO 15189 quality standards, including IQC and EQA participation.
