Medical Laboratory Scientist
About this role
A full-time Medical Laboratory Scientist is needed to manage the laboratory operations at the Abia clinic, handling tests across multiple disciplines, ensuring quality results, and supervising a Laboratory Technician. The role uses BeaconOS for ordering, results and reporting and involves direct interaction with patients and clinicians.
What you would do
- Collect and receive patient specimens for processing
- Match orders to labels, log and prepare samples for testing
- Perform tests across chemistry, haematology, urinalysis, coagulation, immunology, microbiology and toxicology
- Carry out procedures to identify organisms and determine susceptibilities; complete blood typing and compatibility testing where needed
- Assess result validity, record and report results in BeaconOS
- Maintain quality control, equipment calibration and safety standards; supervise the Laboratory Technician and support staff training
What they are asking for
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science
- Current MLSCN practising licence
- Completion of NYSC or valid exemption
- Minimum 2 years post-licence hospital or diagnostic lab experience
- Competence in at least two disciplines among chemistry, haematology, microbiology and immunology
- Computer literacy and ability to work with BeaconOS (training provided)
