Medical Laboratory Scientist
About this role
A full‑time, on‑site Medical Laboratory Scientist is sought to manage the newly established diagnostic laboratory in Lagos. The role involves overseeing sample collection, processing and storage, ensuring MLSCN compliance and patient confidentiality, validating results and maintaining quality control, and supervising laboratory staff. The successful candidate will operate and maintain laboratory equipment and carry out routine investigations across haematology, clinical chemistry, urinalysis and microbiology. They will also manage records, reagents and inventory, with a focus on safety and infection prevention. The employer is Mirakay Holistic Wellness Centre, part of JV Management Consulting, located in Lagos.
What you would do
- Oversee daily laboratory operations and supervise support staff
- Operate, calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment
- Process and store samples properly
- Validate laboratory results and maintain quality control standards
- Conduct routine investigations (haematology, clinical chemistry, urinalysis, microbiology)
- Manage laboratory records, reagents and inventory
- Ensure compliance with MLSCN regulations and patient confidentiality
- Maintain safety procedures and infection prevention practices
- Communicate and coordinate with relevant teams
- Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of results
What they are asking for
- Minimum of 5 years post-NYSC experience, preferably in a clinical diagnostic laboratory
- BMLS degree or recognised equivalent
- Current MLSCN registration and valid practising licence
- Practical experience with haematology and chemistry analysers
- Good communication, professionalism and attention to detail
- Ability to independently manage routine laboratory operations
- Strong knowledge of laboratory quality control, safety procedures and infection prevention
