Shalina Healthcare in Lagos is looking for a Medical Laboratory Scientist to handle specimens from receipt through processing, upholding quality and patient care. The role covers microbiological testing, analysis of various specimens, and communication of results to healthcare providers. It is suited to professionals with a Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science and a valid MLSCN licence, with several years’ microbiology experience.
What you would do
- Perform a wide range of microbiological tests including culture, sensitivity, and pathogen identification.
- Analyse specimens such as blood, urine, tissue, and other body fluids.
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory policies, quality assurance, and safety standards.
- Record and interpret results accurately and communicate findings to healthcare providers when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment.
What they are asking for
- Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science (BMLS)
- Valid MLSCN licence
- 3–5 years post-NYSC experience in a medical laboratory, with microbiology expertise
- Knowledge of good laboratory practice
- Strong attention to detail
