Mechanical Team Lead
About this role
Prima Corporation Limited seeks a Mechanical Team Lead to provide technical leadership for the maintenance team. The role focuses on keeping production lines, utilities, and plant machinery running at optimal performance to support manufacturing objectives. The incumbent will lead mechanical maintenance activities, collaborate with Production, Quality, Utilities, and Engineering teams, and drive improvements to reduce downtime and improve overall equipment effectiveness. The position is based in Lagos and targets candidates with substantial mechanical maintenance experience in manufacturing or FMCG settings.
What you would do
- Lead and consult with the technical maintenance team
- Plan mold changes, punch servicing, and mechanical maintenance with required tools and spares ready
- Develop and maintain relationships with OEMs
- Address maintenance issues promptly and ensure closure without compromise
- Implement and manage strategic preventive maintenance plans
- Communicate maintenance plans effectively to the team
- Ensure availability of all production machines in the plant
- Prevent unplanned production downtime
- Develop, coach and mentor technicians
- Support continuous improvement and equipment reliability
What they are asking for
- Strong knowledge of preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance
- Bachelor's degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Ability to manage breakdowns and drive continuous improvement
- Leadership, communication, problem-solving, and team development skills
- Proficiency in root cause analysis, maintenance planning, and CMMS
- Experience troubleshooting production equipment, utilities, pumps, compressors, conveyors, and packaging machinery
- Understanding of safety, quality, and environmental standards in manufacturing
- 5–8 years mechanical maintenance experience in manufacturing or FMCG, with at least 4 years in a supervisory role
- Preferred: experience in plastic/preform, packaging, or high-volume manufacturing
