Mechanical Engineering Officer
About this role
Mikano International Limited is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Officer for its Lagos operations. The role involves inspecting and maintaining generating sets, diesel and gas engines, turbines where applicable, and other mechanical equipment. The officer will perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance, diagnose faults, and ensure supporting systems (fuel, lubrication, cooling, exhaust, air intake) function properly. The position requires collaboration with electrical and instrumentation engineers and includes preparing reports and maintaining maintenance records. It is a full-time role based in Ikeja, Lagos, within a company active in power generation, real estate, and construction sectors.
What you would do
- Conduct routine inspections of generating sets, engines, turbines and other mechanical equipment.
- Perform preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance per schedules.
- Inspect engine components such as pistons, cylinder heads, crankshafts, bearings, valves and cooling systems.
- Monitor engine performance, temperatures, vibration, lubrication, and pressure.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and implement corrective actions to minimise downtime.
- Ensure proper operation of fuel, lubrication, cooling, exhaust and air intake systems.
- Supervise engine overhauls, component replacements and major repairs.
- Investigate failures and unusual noises, vibrations, overheating, leaks, and abnormal performance.
- Prepare technical reports on breakdowns, repairs and equipment performance.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance plans and maintain maintenance records.

- Experience in maintenance and inspection of power generation equipment or similar mechanical systems (generators, engines, turbines) is preferred.
- Ability to diagnose faults and carry out repairs and overhauls.
- Familiarity with maintenance planning and record-keeping.
