Mechanical Engineer
About this role
A full-time Mechanical Engineer role based in Lagos, focused on preventing downtime and ensuring reliable diesel generator operation through preventive and corrective maintenance, overhauls, and adherence to safety and environmental standards. The position targets candidates with hands-on experience in engine inspection, overhaul, and diesel generator servicing.
What you would do
- Diagnose mechanical faults and identify root causes of engine problems
- Measure and compare components against manufacturer specifications
- Inspect and replace worn parts such as pistons, rings, liners, bearings, valves and gaskets
- Perform complete overhaul and preventive maintenance of diesel generator sets
- Carry out cylinder head servicing, valve grinding, and valve clearance adjustments
- Dismantle engines and inspect major components for wear, damage and defects

- Trade certificate or OND in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience dismantling and inspecting major engine components (connecting rods, pistons, liners, crankshaft, camshaft, etc.)
- Ability to overhaul diesel generator engines according to manufacturer specifications
