Talent Recruitment 360 is seeking a Materials and Corrosion Engineer for hull and facilities in Lagos on a contract basis. The role involves selecting protective coatings, cathodic protection, and corrosion inhibitors, and reviewing material compatibility, welding requirements, and material traceability. You will assess corrosion mechanisms and develop materials selection reports, corrosion studies, and inspection requirements for piping, hull systems, and offshore facilities. The position targets professionals with extensive experience in offshore facilities, LNG/FLNG, FPSO, marine systems, or process plants in the oil and gas sector. Responsibilities include participating in design reviews, failure investigations, and materials integrity assessments to support corrosion management strategies.
What you would do
- Support coatings, cathodic protection, and corrosion inhibitor selections.
- Review material compatibility, welding requirements, and traceability documentation.
- Review vendor documents for project material specifications and compliance.
- Develop and review materials selection reports, corrosion studies, and material specifications.
- Develop or review corrosion management strategies and inspection requirements.
- Recommend suitable materials for piping, equipment, hull systems, and offshore facilities.
- Participate in design reviews, failure investigations, and materials integrity assessments.
- Assess corrosion mechanisms such as pitting, erosion-corrosion, galvanic corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking.
What they are asking for
- Bachelor’s Degree in Materials, Metallurgical, Chemical, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline.
- 8–12 years of relevant materials and corrosion engineering experience in oil and gas.
- Experience in offshore facilities, LNG/FLNG, FPSO, marine systems, or process plants.
- Familiarity with AMPP/NACE, API, and ISO standards.
- Knowledge of corrosion mechanisms, materials selection, coatings, and cathodic protection.
- Relevant corrosion or materials certifications are an advantage.
