Managing Director
About this role
Managing Director role based in Lagos for a multinational logistics business, responsible for strategy, commercial growth and operations with full P&L accountability, with emphasis on road transport and contract logistics in Nigeria. It targets senior logistics leaders with at least 10 years of experience, including 8 years in executive roles within Sub-Saharan Africa, and who are willing to be based in Nigeria and travel frequently.
What you would do
- Define and execute Nigeria's strategy and business plans; identify new business opportunities and grow strategic contracts.
- Manage full P&L, budgets, profitability, cash flow and working capital.
- Lead road transport and contract logistics operations to ensure safe, reliable and cost-effective service delivery.
- Optimise fleet utilisation and asset lifecycle; oversee capital investments in transport assets and warehouses.
- Develop pricing and customer solutions; collaborate with regional teams to drive business development.
- Drive operational transformation, digitalisation and technology adoption.
What they are asking for
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering or related field.
- MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in logistics or supply chain, including 8+ years in senior executive or MD-equivalent roles within a multinational logistics organisation.
- Direct operational experience in road transport and/or contract logistics in Sub-Saharan Africa; Nigerian market experience strongly preferred.
- Proven ability with full P&L ownership and experience managing fleets of 500+ vehicles.
- Experience leading large, diverse teams (200+ employees) and operating within a multinational matrix organisation; strong communication and stakeholder management; willingness to be based in Nigeria with travel.
