About this role
Role: Manager, Legal at Appzone Limited, Lagos. The position leads the drafting, review and negotiation of commercial agreements across the company’s business lines, provides legal advisory support to business teams and manages the contract lifecycle and governance tasks.
What you would do
- Lead the drafting, review and negotiation of commercial agreements across the company’s lines, including platform, technology, vendor, partnership, NDA, service and data processing agreements
- Provide legal advisory support to business teams on commercial decisions, product structures, operations and regulatory-adjacent issues
- Manage the contract lifecycle from intake through renewal tracking and filing, ensuring adherence to SLAs and the approved task management system
- Identify, assess and escalate legal risks, including those related to the PSSP licence process, regulatory engagement, market expansion and partner relationships
- Coordinate with Regulatory Affairs, Compliance, Risk, Privacy and Corporate Governance teams on cross-domain matters and assist with board-facing or investor-related legal work as needed
- Maintain and improve the legal documentation infrastructure, including templates, standard terms, clause libraries and playbooks, and supervise external counsel within approved costs; review AI-assisted outputs before use

- Nigerian-qualified lawyer with LLB and BL
- 6 to 8 years' post-call experience
- Experience in a reputable commercial law firm and in-house or regulated environment within fintech, payments, financial services, technology or similar sectors
- Strong drafting, negotiation and advisory skills, with solid understanding of Nigerian and African commercial and corporate law and technology contracting
- Experience advising on commercial contracts, regulatory-adjacent issues, product or technology matters, data protection clauses, vendor risk and business expansion; broad generalist legal capabilities including governance and employment-adjacent issues
- Desirable: experience supporting board-, investor- or regulator-facing matters; additional qualifications in compliance, governance, data protection or financial services
