Management Accountant
About this role
A Management Accountant is needed in Lagos to provide management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cost monitoring and operational reporting to support business decisions across agricultural, factory and support operations. The role supports monthly financial close, cost control, management reporting, internal controls and business partnering within Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc’s Golden Sugar Company. Key duties include analysing production costs, preparing monthly budget versus actuals with variance explanations, analysing performance and cost drivers, preparing annual budgets and rolling forecasts, monitoring workshop and maintenance overheads, and supporting balance sheet reconciliations and financial close. The role involves producing monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts in line with reporting timelines. The position targets candidates with strong numerical and analytical skills and experience in manufacturing or FMCG cost accounting, and proficiency with ERP systems and Excel.
What you would do
- Analyse agricultural and factory/sugar processing costs and identify key cost drivers and trends.
- Prepare monthly Budget vs Actual and Latest Estimate analyses with variance explanations.
- Analyse financial performance, variances and cost drivers to support decision-making.
- Prepare and analyse annual budgets, rolling forecasts and Latest Estimates with department heads.
- Monitor workshop and maintenance overheads and provide cost analysis by department or work centre.
- Support the monthly financial close including accruals, provisions, prepayments, inventory adjustments and balance-sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts in line with reporting timelines.
- Contribute to internal controls and business partnering across operations at GSC Sunti.
What they are asking for
- Membership in ICAN, ACCA, ACA or CIMA.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years cognate experience, preferably in manufacturing/FMCG.
- Good understanding of agricultural, manufacturing and operational cost accounting.
- Strong budgeting, cost control, management accounting and financial analysis skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong Excel skills and financial modelling capability.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance or an equivalent ERP system.
