Management Accountant
About this role
A Management Accountant role based in Lagos for Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc (Golden Sugar Company). The position involves providing management accounting, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, cost monitoring and operational reporting to support business decisions across agricultural, factory and support operations. Responsibilities include monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts, assisting with monthly financial close, variance analysis, and preparing budgets and rolling forecasts. The role requires collaboration with department heads and a strong focus on cost control, financial analysis and internal controls.
What you would do
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts according to reporting timelines
- Support the monthly financial close including accruals, provisions, prepayments and balance-sheet reconciliations
- Analyse financial performance, variances, trends and cost drivers to aid decision-making
- Prepare and analyse annual budgets, rolling forecasts and latest estimates with department heads
- Prepare monthly budget versus actual and latest estimate analyses with explanations for material variances
- Analyse agricultural/cane production costs and factory/sugar processing costs
- Monitor workshop and maintenance overheads and provide cost analysis by department or cost centre
- Collaborate with relevant teams on cost control and reporting
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of management reporting
- Support internal controls and business partnering activities
What they are asking for
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field
- Membership in ICAN, ACCA, ACA or CIMA
- Minimum of 5 years cognate experience, preferably in manufacturing/ FMCG
- Experience in agricultural accounting or cost accounting is an added advantage
- Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance or equivalent ERP system
- Strong Excel skills and financial modelling capability
- Good understanding of budgeting, cost control, management accounting and financial analysis
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Understanding of agricultural, manufacturing and operational cost accounting
