About this role
The firm seeks an experienced, commercially minded Legal Officer to provide legal and regulatory support across its real estate operations. The role involves helping manage legal risk, reviewing and negotiating contracts, ensuring regulatory compliance, protecting the company’s interests, and providing practical legal guidance to management and relevant business units.
What you would do
- Provide advice on corporate, commercial, property, real estate, construction, investment, employment, contractual, and regulatory matters.
- Draft contracts and related legal documents.
- Review land and property transactions and development agreements.
- Monitor laws, regulations, permits, licences and statutory requirements relevant to operations and advise on compliance.
- Identify legal and regulatory risks and escalate significant issues to management with mitigation recommendations.
- Manage disputes, negotiations and liaise with external solicitors; maintain proper legal records and documentation.
What they are asking for
- LL.B degree and call to the Nigerian Bar.
- Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or team leadership role.
- Real estate sector experience preferred, including property transactions, land documentation, construction projects, development agreements, contracts and regulatory approvals.
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian property, land, corporate, commercial, construction, contract and regulatory laws.
- Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills, sound judgement, commercial awareness, analytical ability, attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication.
- Experience managing external counsel, regulatory relationships, legal disputes and compliance matters will be an added advantage.
