About this role
The Legal Manager & Group Company Secretary will act as the principal in-house legal and governance officer for Afrihood Nigeria, supporting the Board, executive leadership, operating companies and project SPVs. It requires a commercially minded lawyer who can structure transactions, identify risks and help management transact legally and efficiently. This role is broader than a typical company-secretarial position, spanning governance, project structuring and regulatory compliance across the Afrihood group in Nigeria.
What you would do
- Serve as Secretary to the Afrihood Nigeria Board, coordinating meetings, agendas, papers, minutes and action trackers.
- Maintain governance records and ensure approvals, delegated authorities and reserved matters are observed across the Group.
- Lead legal structuring and documentation for property acquisitions, development transactions and joint ventures.
- Draft, review and negotiate land, JV and development agreements, leases and other contracts; perform due diligence on projects and counterparties.
- Oversee project SPV formation and coordinate financing and investment documentation with financiers and external advisers.
- Develop and standardise legal frameworks and templates; support governance across Afrihood Nigeria and its project network.
What they are asking for
- LLB and B.L; must be qualified to practise law in Nigeria.
- 5–10 years post-call experience; strong corporate/commercial and transactional background.
- Experience in real estate development, joint ventures, acquisitions, investment structures or project finance.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, analytical and due diligence skills; transaction management.
- Good knowledge of Nigerian company and property law; understanding of corporate governance and board processes.
- ICSAN or similar governance/professional qualification; advantageous for complex multi-entity structures or project finance experience.
