Legal and Regulatory Analyst

About this role

The role is for a Legal and Regulatory Analyst at Carbon Nigeria in Lagos. The position supports the legal and compliance department by conducting legal research, evaluating regulatory changes and drafting policies, with engagement with regulators and cross-functional teams.

What you would do

• Maintain and optimise contract lifecycle management systems.
• Manage the end-to-end contracting process: drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and coordinating execution with stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain internal policies, standard operating procedures and legal guidance documents.
• Support litigation and dispute resolution by coordinating with external counsel and internal teams.
• Track regulatory developments and coordinate regulatory filings, periodic returns, audits and inspections; maintain a compliance calendar.
• Engage regulators including CBN, FCCPC, NDPR and law enforcement agencies as required, coordinating with external counsel and cross-functional teams.

• LL.B degree with BL certification.
• At least 4 years post-call experience in legal, compliance or regulatory roles within a financial institution, fintech or legal practice.
• Experience working with regulators or managing regulatory engagements preferred.
• Excellent legal writing, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a structured approach.
• Familiarity with regulatory portals (CBN Paperlite, NFIU GoAML, NDPR) and proficiency with Google Workspace, Excel, legal tech software and project management tools; tech savvy.
