Legal and Compliance Manager (Web3 / Fintech)

About this role

Apex Network Limited is seeking a Legal & Compliance Manager for Web3 and fintech activities. The role is based in Lagos and is a full-time, hybrid position. The manager will drive licensing, manage regulatory approvals across jurisdictions, and ensure compliance for fast-paced Web3 product development while aligning with global standards.

What you would do

• Act as the main contact for regulators, financial intelligence units, and external legal counsel.
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements, partnerships, and vendor terms.
• Design and manage AML/KYC/CFT policies and internal audit procedures.
• Identify legal risks in product roadmaps and provide actionable solutions to the Executive team.
• Lead the licensing and permit application process (IMTO, PSP, VASP, EMI, etc.) in target jurisdictions.
• Research and interpret evolving fintech and Web3 regulations across regions including Ghana, Kenya, Cameroon, Poland, and the Americas.

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and relevant professional certification (CAMS or equivalent preferred).
• At least 10 years of experience in legal/compliance, with 3–5 years in fintech, crypto, or Web3.
• Experience managing compliance in at least two core regions (Africa, EU, or Americas).
• Strong understanding of blockchain, smart contracts, and decentralized finance (DeFi).
• Demonstrated ownership mentality and ability to work in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
• Ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear business guidance for non-lawyers.
