Legal and Compliance Assistant
About this role
A full-time Legal and Compliance Assistant role in Lagos for a newly NYSC-completed law graduate. The position supports the legal, regulatory and documentation needs of the Velvot Group and offers exposure to corporate counsel tasks.
What you would do
- Draft, review and advise on commercial agreements (NDAs, SLAs, partnership and vendor agreements, etc.)
- Maintain contract register, template library and track renewals and key dates
- Flag legal and regulatory risks in agreements and escalate non-standard terms
- Oversee internal agreements and policies for legal soundness and approvals
- Review employee documents with HR and ensure alignment with labour and data protection laws
- Monitor regulatory changes and prepare briefings; assist in regulatory filings and responses; draft/update privacy policies and data agreements

- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and completion of Law School (BL)
- Must have completed NYSC
- At least 1 year post-qualification experience in legal or compliance
- Strong interest in corporate counsel role
- Excellent legal research, writing and communication skills
- Detail-oriented, analytical, proactive and able to work independently and with others
