Lead, Legal Officer
About this role
Green Africa Airways Limited, a Lagos-based value airline, is seeking a Lead, Legal Officer to provide legal support for the company, its officers, and staff. The role involves advising on regulatory compliance, managing contracts and policy documents, and staying updated on relevant laws. The successful candidate will conduct legal research, negotiate and draft contracts, and offer ongoing governance and corporate legal guidance. Aviation industry experience is a plus, with an emphasis on corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters. A law degree, Nigerian Law School certification, and 5-7 years of relevant experience are required, with additional credentials such as MBA/LLM or professional certifications advantageous.
What you would do
- Provide legal protection and services to the company, officers and staff
- Advise on regulatory compliance matters, including meetings, filings, training, policies and remittances
- Assess contracts for status, risks and liabilities of business transactions
- Keep up to date with developments in applicable laws and regulatory policies
- Conduct legal research to support legal solutions for the company
- Negotiate, draft, review and conclude contracts and policy documents
- Offer ongoing counsel on corporate, legal, governance, contracts, property, taxation and labour matters

- Bachelor’s Degree in Law
- Nigerian Law School certification
- 5-7 years in commercial, corporate or regulatory environment
- Experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating legal contracts
- Knowledge of legal, statutory and regulatory framework
- Attention to detail and strong negotiation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including legal drafting skills
- MBA/LLM or professional certification considered an advantage
- Experience in aviation is an added advantage
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
