Lead Electrical Assurance Consultant
About this role
This is a team-leading role in IPMC, based in Lagos, responsible for the independent verification, assurance and certification of electrical installations by contractors. The successful candidate will lead and mentor a team of Electrical Assurance Associates and consulting electrical engineers, and will form part of IPMC's senior project leadership reporting to the Project Director.
What you would do
- Lead and supervise the electrical assurance team; allocate engineers to packages and site areas.
- Mentor and provide technical direction; review inspection findings and reports before issue.
- Coordinate day-to-day activities with the Lead Civil, Lead Mechanical, and Lead Cost Engineer; report progress, risks, and resourcing to the Project Director.
- Represent IPMC in meetings with the Employer's site management; escalate and resolve conflicts or ambiguities in instructions.
- Review contractor electrical deliverables and technical submissions for compliance with approved designs, specifications and codes.
- Verify electrical installations and certify critical works; conduct site inspections and audits to confirm compliance.
What they are asking for
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Power Engineering or related field; a Master's degree is advantageous.
- Minimum 12 years post-qualification experience with leadership roles on industrial, oil & gas, petrochemical, refinery, power generation, transmission, or major infrastructure projects.
- Professional registration such as COREN, PE, CEng, or an equivalent international body.
- Experience leading or supervising multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience in consulting, Owner's Engineer, EPC/EPCM, Third-Party Inspection, Project Assurance or Technical Audit; strong knowledge of HV/MV/LV systems, substations, switchgear, protection and control, and related standards (IEC, IEEE, NFPA).
- Willingness to relocate to Nigeria for the assignment; must hold a valid international passport and be ready to obtain Nigerian work authorization.
