Lead Design and Application Engineer
About this role
INTECH Process Automation is recruiting a Lead Design and Application Engineer for a full-time role in Port Harcourt. The position involves leading design and configuration of industrial control and communication systems, developing HMI/SCADA applications, and implementing control strategies for sectors such as Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Utilities, and Renewable Energy. The role covers factory and site activities from FAT to handover, and requires collaboration with clients and project teams to meet specifications and standards. The employer operates as an international system integrator delivering automation and control solutions. The advert targets experienced engineering professionals with a background in electrical/electronics engineering and industrial automation systems.
What you would do
- Design and configure inter- and intra-system communications using industrial protocols and networks.
- Design and configure HMI/SCADA applications with graphics, alarms, and operator interfaces.
- Develop complex control strategies including sequence logic, SFCs, cascade, ratio, split-range, and advanced PID loops.
- Analyse project specifications to define control objects, logic, interlocks, alarms, timers, and diagnostics.
- Support industrial network architecture and cybersecurity measures such as access control and network segmentation.
- Design and implement data acquisition, historian configurations, and alarm management systems.
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation including FDS, FAT/SAT procedures, manuals, and related documents.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, standards, procedures, and client requirements.
- Design, develop and implement software for automation systems (PCS, SIS, F&G, SCADA, CMS, PMS, Instrument Asset Management, electrical systems).
- Participate in FAT, SAT, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, training, and handover activities.
What they are asking for
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field.
- 8–10 years of experience in industrial automation with strong skills in HIMA, Emerson DeltaV & GE Mark VI.
- Experience with FAT, testing, commissioning, and site work.
- Ability to interpret FRS, P&IDs, C&E diagrams and other technical documents.
- Good understanding of industrial standards, instrumentation, and system functionality.
- Strong MS Office and communication skills.
