Laboratory Technician
About this role
A Laboratory Technician is needed to support BeaconHealth Diagnostics clinics by handling specimen receipt and preparation, performing routine tests, maintaining equipment and records, and assisting the Medical Laboratory Scientist to ensure accurate data. The role is based in Umuahia, Abia, and involves onsite work with BeaconOS as the data platform.
What you would do
- Receive and process samples and assess suitability for testing
- Prepare samples for testing using appropriate equipment
- Coordinate inventory orders and maintain reagents and equipment
- Perform routine tests and follow established safety and testing procedures
- Generate and retrieve test results, maintaining accurate records in BeaconOS
- Maintain a clean, organised lab and provide minor administrative support
What they are asking for
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a hospital or diagnostic laboratory
- Current MLSCN registration as a laboratory technician
- OND, HND or equivalent in Medical Laboratory Science or Laboratory Technology
- Computer literacy and ability to work with digital record systems (BeaconOS training provided)
- Knowledge of specimen handling, laboratory safety and waste disposal
- Preferred: experience with quality control, calibration, high-volume diagnostic environments, and inventory management
