Laboratory Technician
About this role
A Laboratory Technician is sought to support laboratory services and diagnostic investigations within LPF’s health programme in Borno. The role involves conducting routine tests, handling specimens, maintaining equipment and records, and ensuring safe, quality laboratory practice in a humanitarian healthcare setting.
What you would do
- Perform routine laboratory investigations within approved protocols
- Receive, label, and process patient specimens to ensure traceability
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment safely
- Review and report test results and communicate abnormal findings to clinicians
- Collect or assist with specimen collection and ensure proper handling and storage
- Maintain documentation, quality control records and inventory for laboratory supplies

- Relevant technical qualifications for Laboratory Technician
- Experience with routine laboratory tests (haematology, urinalysis, malaria testing, stool examination) and specimen processing
- Knowledge of infection prevention and laboratory safety procedures
- Ability to maintain accurate registers, records and reports
- Familiarity with quality assurance, quality control and adherence to SOPs
- Strong attention to detail and patient confidentiality
