Laboratory Technician
About this role
A Laboratory Technician is needed to support the clinic laboratory operations, handling specimen receipt, routine testing, and data entry under the supervision of the Medical Laboratory Scientist. The role uses BeaconOS for ordering, results, and reporting, and is based in Umuahia, Abia on a full-time onsite basis.
What you would do
- Receive and process samples and assess their suitability for testing
- Prepare samples for testing using lab equipment and prepare buffers
- Organise and maintain reagents and equipment
- Perform routine laboratory testing and follow established methodologies
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and enter data in BeaconOS
- Support equipment maintenance, waste disposal, and administrative tasks within the lab
What they are asking for
- OND, HND or equivalent in Medical Laboratory Science or Laboratory Technology
- Current MLSCN registration as a technician
- Minimum of 1 year of hospital or diagnostic laboratory experience
- Knowledge of specimen handling, lab safety and waste disposal
- Computer literacy and ability to work with a digital record system (BeaconOS)
- Preferred: experience in high-volume outpatient or diagnostic centre, QC routines and calibration, inventory management
