Laboratory Technician
About this role
A Laboratory Technician role at BeaconHealth Diagnostics in Umuahia, Abia, supporting the Medical Laboratory Scientist with specimen handling, routine tests, equipment and reagent maintenance, and data entry on BeaconOS. What you would do
- Receive and prepare specimens for testing
- Perform routine laboratory tests and pH measurement
- Maintain reagents and equipment; assist in mixing buffers
- Record results and retrieve data on BeaconOS; generate reports
- Provide administrative support within the laboratory and maintain a clean, safe environment
- Welcome patients during specimen collection and protect patient confidentiality
What they are asking for
- OND, HND or equivalent in Medical Laboratory Science or Laboratory Technology
- Current MLSCN registration as a technician
- Minimum of 1 year of hospital or diagnostic laboratory experience
- Knowledge of specimen handling, laboratory safety and waste disposal
- Computer literate; able to use digital record systems and BeaconOS training provided
- Preferred: experience in high-volume outpatient or diagnostic centre and familiarity with quality control, calibration, and stock management
