Laboratory Analyst Chemist

LS Scientific in Lagos seeks a skilled chemist to join its laboratory team. The role involves conducting chemical and physicochemical tests, preparing samples and reagents, and operating analytical equipment to deliver accurate results within set turnaround times. What you would do
- Receive, prepare and analyse samples for chemical and physicochemical testing
- Conduct testing on food, water, environmental, industrial and other relevant sample types
- Perform titrimetric, gravimetric, spectrophotometric and other analytical procedures
- Prepare reagents, standards, solutions and calibration materials
- Operate, maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instruments as trained
- Use analytical equipment (HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR, AAS, titration systems) where applicable
- Record, calculate, interpret and report results accurately
- Follow approved methods, SOPs, GLP and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements
- Support method verification, validation, quality control and proficiency testing
- Maintain traceability and keep technical records and logs
What they are asking for
- BSc or HND in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on analytical laboratory experience
- Experience in chemical or physicochemical testing and sample preparation
- Knowledge of analytical methods, quality control and result interpretation
- Experience operating instruments such as HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR or AAS is an advantage
- Understanding of GLP, SOPs and ISO/IEC 17025 principles
- Good numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and accurate technical documentation
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines
