Kitchen Assistant
About this role
Afconrecruit Limited in Lagos is seeking a hardworking, reliable Kitchen Assistant to join its Food & Beverage team. The role supports kitchen staff in basic food preparation, maintains cleanliness and hygiene, and helps ensure smooth day-to-day kitchen operations.
What you would do
- Assist chefs with basic food preparation, including cutting, washing, peeling and portioning ingredients
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen, equipment and work areas
- Wash and sanitise utensils, equipment and work surfaces
- Receive, store and manage kitchen supplies
- Support stock-taking and help minimise food waste
- Assist during food production and service to ensure smooth operations
What they are asking for
- Minimum of SSCE/WAEC, OND or equivalent
- Previous experience in a hotel, restaurant, catering business or commercial kitchen is an advantage
- Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen hygiene
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
- Good physical stamina and ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Willingness to learn and develop culinary and kitchen-management skills, with flexibility to work weekends and public holidays
