IT Security Engineer

About this role

An IT Security Engineer is sought to join GVA Partners in Lagos to lead cybersecurity initiatives and implement security controls within a project team. The role is suitable for candidates with at least five years of security experience, preferably in a large organisation and in telecommunications.

What you would do

• Lead cybersecurity initiatives with the Group Cybersecurity team
• Design and implement security controls to safeguard information systems, enterprise applications and data
• Drive internal and external vulnerability assessments and oversee remediation
• Respond to escalated security events and manage incident response processes
• Design, document and deploy secure infrastructure solutions to enhance the security posture
• Collaborate with stakeholders and the Client Server Team to ensure practical, sustainable controls

What they are asking for

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least five years' security experience
• Experience in a large organisation, preferably in the telecommunications sector
• Strong background in application security infrastructure and network technologies (firewalls, VPN, IDS/IPS, encryption, DLP, two-factor authentication)
• Experience with Windows, Solaris, Unix, Oracle and MS SQL environments
• Knowledge of information security best practices and incident management
• Experience with security incident and event management and vulnerability management
