About this role

SRH Community Mobilisation Assistant for the IRC's Impact@Scale project in Zamfara. The IRC is a global humanitarian non-governmental organisation. The assistant will support community-based activities to raise awareness and demand for voluntary family planning and other SRH services, working with health facilities, CHWs, volunteers and leaders to strengthen referrals and continuity of care, contributing to Scale DEEP and Scale OUT strategies.

What you would do

• Conduct community assessments to identify barriers and misconceptions about family planning.
• Develop and implement community mobilisation activities based on identified needs and programme priorities.
• Mobilise women, adolescent girls, men, couples, women’s groups, youth groups and other community structures to improve FP awareness and utilisation.
• Deliver health education sessions on family planning and related SRH topics, including informed decision-making and birth spacing.
• Support male engagement and adolescent-responsive FP information and referral activities.
• Establish and strengthen community-facility linkages and refer clients to FP services with follow-up to support continuity of care.

What they are asking for

• Registered Nurse/Midwife, CHEW, Junior CHEW or equivalent.
• Additional training in community mobilisation, family planning, SRH or health promotion is an advantage.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in community mobilisation, health promotion, SRH or family planning.
• Experience working with community structures and volunteers; stakeholder engagement and community dialogue.
• Experience in humanitarian, fragile or hard-to-reach settings is an advantage.
• Fluency in English and Hausa.
