Internal Control Team Lead
About this role
The role is for an Internal Control Team Lead to manage internal control activities across multiple locations including stores and warehouses, ensuring compliance, loss prevention, and efficiency. It targets experienced professionals who can lead Internal Control Officers and develop and monitor control policies and procedures. The employer seeks someone who can perform control reviews, investigations, risk assessments, and oversee cash handling, inventory, and related loss prevention duties. The role requires collaboration with Audit, Finance, Warehouse, Store Operations and other functions, and the candidate should use data analytics to drive improvements. The position is based in Rivers and is with Terawork.
What you would do
- Lead and supervise Internal Control Officers across multiple locations.
- Develop, implement, and monitor internal control policies, SOPs, and procedures.
- Conduct control reviews, spot checks, investigations, and risk assessments.
- Oversee cash handling, inventory, refunds, discounts, stock movements and loss prevention activities.
- Identify control weaknesses, revenue leakages, stock variances, fraud risks and operational losses.
- Utilise data analytics to identify exceptions and support continuous improvement.
- Prepare and review internal control reports and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Audit, Finance, Warehouse, Store Operations and other functions.
What they are asking for
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field.
- 7–8 years of relevant experience, including at least 4 years in a supervisory/leadership role.
- Experience in Internal Control, Internal Audit, Risk Management or Compliance.
- Experience in Retail, FMCG, Hospitality or Banking is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of inventory, warehouse and retail operations.
- Proficiency in MS Excel; ERP/POS experience preferred.
- Knowledge of COSO, ISO 31000, risk management and fraud detection.
- Professional certifications such as CIA, ACA, ACCA, CPA, CISA, CFE, CRMA or related are an advantage.
