Internal Control Team Lead

About this role

The role leads internal control activities to ensure compliance with ICFR based on the COSO framework, safeguarding accuracy and integrity of financial reporting across the company. It focuses on designing, testing and monitoring controls in financial processes, ERP systems and related platforms, while driving process improvements and risk management. The position reports to management committees and collaborates with Finance, Accounts and operations to embed strong internal controls in business processes. It targets maintaining a robust control environment and timely remediation of control issues. The employer is Dangote with operations in Lagos, and the role involves oversight of the Internal Control Team and interaction with external auditors for ICFR certification.

What you would do

• Establish and maintain the internal control framework for the company
• Ensure SOPs are designed, tested and kept up to date
• Confirm key controls over financial transactions and reporting operate effectively
• Ensure compliance with ERP and ancillary finance systems process and controls
• Design dashboards and reporting to track internal control strength for management and boards
• Implement an effective pre-payment audit process
• Conduct risk assessments and develop a Risk Dashboard for monitoring risks
• Review design and operating effectiveness of Entity Level Internal Control and FSLI controls
• Develop an Internal Control Plan with ongoing testing and monitoring of ICFR
• Provide ICFR awareness and training to staff and control team members and liaise with departments to ensure process adherence
