Intern - Accounting Officer

Hope Spring Community Humanitarian Initiative is recruiting an intern for an Accounting Officer role based in Borno. The position targets individuals who are studying or have recently completed related finance or accounting qualifications. The organisation is the Nigerian arm of Hope Spring Water, a UK-registered charity focused on water, sanitation and hygiene. The role involves supporting daily financial tasks, preparing reports, and assisting with audits and budgeting under supervision.

What you would do

• Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in financial work
• Assist with bank and account reconciliations
• Process accounts payable and receivable under supervision
• Support the preparation of monthly management accounts and basic financial reports
• Maintain organised filing of financial documents (digital and physical)
• Record daily financial transactions in the accounting system
• Assist in audits, tax filings or regulatory returns preparation
• Support budget tracking and variance analysis
• Contribute to process improvements and ad hoc finance projects
• Update the general ledger and chart of accounts as directed
