Industrial Hygienist

About this role

The Industrial Hygienist at Dangote in Lagos is responsible for protecting staff and contractors from workplace health hazards by identifying, assessing, monitoring and supporting controls for occupational exposures in the refinery. The role supports regulatory compliance, health programmes, incident investigations and accurate hygiene reporting to maintain a safe work environment. It involves conducting exposure assessments for noise, heat stress, radiation and airborne contaminants, and recommending engineering, administrative and PPE controls, while ensuring adherence to Nigerian health and safety regulations. The position supports medical surveillance and respiratory protection programmes and participates in incident investigations.Responsibilities include keeping sampling logs, calibration certificates and IH reports up to date.

What you would do

• Conduct exposure assessments for noise, heat stress, radiation and airborne contaminants.
• Recommend engineering, administrative and PPE controls to reduce exposures.
• Ensure compliance with Nigerian health and safety regulations (Factories Act, NUPRC/NMDPRA HSE requirements).
• Support occupational health programmes such as medical surveillance and respiratory protection (HCP).
• Participate in incident investigations.
• Maintain sampling logs, calibration certificates and IH reports.

What they are asking for

• BSc/BTech in OHS, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Chemistry or related field.
• Preferred MSc in Industrial Hygiene or Environmental Health.
• NEBOSH or OSHA certifications (preferred).
• More than 5 years of refinery experience or 10 years in an industrial setting.
