A Lagos-based clearing and forwarding company is hiring an Import/Export Manager. The role reports to the General Manager and oversees cross-border shipping, regulatory compliance, and international logistics to ensure legal and cost-efficient movement of goods. It involves managing the end-to-end import and export workflow, minimising delays and tariffs, and maintaining compliance while building relationships with overseas suppliers and customs authorities. The employer operates as a major transport and logistics provider in Nigeria and West Africa. The position is full-time.
What you would do
- Ensure shipments comply with local and international trade laws, tariffs, and licensing requirements.
- Prepare or verify invoices, bills of lading, and customs declarations.
- Coordinate transport schedules with customs brokers and shipping lines.
- Track active shipments and resolve border or port delays.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and service level agreements with international suppliers, carriers, and warehouses.
- Monitor import/export costs and calculate cost prices and minimum export transfer prices.
- Mitigate supply chain risks.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate import/export staff.

- Bachelor’s Degree (MBA or Master’s an added advantage).
- Minimum of 6 years’ hands-on experience in international trade, freight forwarding, or exim operations.
- Mastery of Incoterms, customs tariff coding, ERP/logistics software, and regulatory frameworks.
- Strong negotiation, cross-cultural communication, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
