HVAC Technician
About this role
The role is for an HVAC Technician at Discovering Talents Academy in Abuja. It covers installation, maintenance, repair and operation of HVAC and refrigeration systems within the hotel environment to ensure guest comfort, safety and energy efficiency. What you would do
- Maintain and repair hotel refrigeration and kitchen equipment (cold rooms, freezers, fridges, ice machines)
- Follow preventive maintenance schedules for all HVAC equipment
- Log servicing, repairs, gas usage and parts used
- Suggest energy-saving measures to reduce power consumption
- Collaborate with Electrical, Plumbing and General Maintenance teams
- Keep HVAC tools organized and plant room clean
- Be on call for emergencies, night shifts, weekends and public holidays
- Report major faults and need for external contractors to Chief Engineer
- Perform daily checks and routine maintenance of various HVAC systems (split, package units, central AC, chillers, AHUs, FCUs)
- Address guest room AC complaints promptly and resolve within hotel SLA (15-30 mins)
What they are asking for
- OND / HND / Trade Test in Mechanical Engineering, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning or related field
- 3-5 years proven HVAC/AC Technician experience, 1+ year in a hotel is advantageous
- Deep technical knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigerants and electrical controls
- Ability to read technical drawings and wiring diagrams
- Basic knowledge of Building Management System (BMS) is an advantage
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Good customer service attitude and guest-focused
- Physically fit to work at heights and lift heavy units, able to work in plant rooms
- Honest, reliable, punctual and able to work with minimal supervision
- Good communication and record-keeping skills
