About this role
The HR Business Partner role for Jaza Energy is based in Ughelli, Delta State, Nigeria. You will work with business leaders and staff to align people practices with company goals and act as a bridge between local teams and the global HR function, covering compliance, performance management, talent development, employee engagement and HR operations to foster an inclusive, high-performing culture.
What you would do
- Handle employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary processes and grievances, ensuring compliance with Nigeria labour laws.
- Ensure adherence to HR policies and provide guidance on restructures, workforce planning and redundancies.
- Lead the annual performance management cycle and support succession planning and talent reviews; assist hiring managers with recruitment decisions and onboarding.
- Maintain accurate employee records across HRIS and payroll systems and prepare HR documentation such as offers, contracts and NDAs; support benefits administration.
- Produce regular HR reports and metrics to support leadership decisions.
- Design and drive local employee engagement programmes and act as a culture ambassador to promote the company's values and wellbeing.
What they are asking for
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Public Administration, Psychology or a related field.
- 5 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years in a generalist role.
- Experience with HRIS (HRMS is a plus).
- Strong knowledge of Nigeria labour laws and employee relations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with professionalism and discretion.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment; self-motivated and adaptable.
