Human Resource (HR) Volunteer

About this role

This is a six month volunteer role in human resources with Save The Slum Initiative in Borno. The position supports HR tasks for a non profit focused on development in slum communities. It reports to the Human Resource Officer and is unpaid, with a possible stipend if future funding allows. The organisation offers on-the-job training and experience in humanitarian programming, with safeguarding and equal opportunity commitments.

What you would do

• Assist with recruitment processes including writing adverts, shortlisting candidates and scheduling interviews
• Maintain staff and volunteer files, attendance registers and leave trackers
• Assist with onboarding and orientation of new staff and volunteers
• Support filing and updating of HR policies and documents

What they are asking for

• OND/HND/BSc in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Social Sciences or related field
• Good organisational skills and ability to handle confidential information
• Resident of Borno State
• Fluency in English; Hausa and/or Kanuri needed for WASH, Protection and Nutrition roles
• Basic computer skills (Word, Excel and email)
• Willingness to work in communities and IDP camps when required
• Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a team
• Understanding of humanitarian principles is an advantage
• Fresh graduates and NYSC members encouraged to apply
• Previous volunteer or field experience is an added advantage
