About this role
The HSE (Supervision Service) Officer role is based in Port Harcourt, Rivers, and provides on-site health, safety and environment supervision for infrastructure and construction projects. It ensures contractors and subcontractors comply with the company’s HSE requirements, procedures, permits, risk assessments and safety standards.
What you would do
- Monitor contractor/subcontractor compliance with approved HSE plans and procedures.
- Conduct site HSE inspections, audits, surveillance, and follow up of corrective actions.
- Review method statements, risk assessments, JRA, and HSE documentation.
- Ensure a valid Permit to Work is in place before site activities.
- Identify unsafe acts/conditions and initiate STOP CARD interventions.
- Support incident investigations and monitor implementation of corrective actions.
What they are asking for
- B.Sc. or equivalent in engineering, physical science or related discipline.
- Recognised HSE qualification/certification.
- 0–2 years’ relevant experience in oil and gas production projects, construction, infrastructure, or similar industrial environments.
- Experience monitoring contractor HSE performance and implementing HSE plans.
- Knowledge of PTW, risk assessment, JRA, method statement review, HAZOP/HAZID/HAZAN, and site HSE surveillance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
