Hotel Accountant
About this role
Venmac Resources Limited is a hotel management company seeking an experienced Accountant to manage financial records, reporting, budgeting and internal controls for a hotel operation in Abuja. The role focuses on ensuring accurate financial reporting, revenue reconciliation, cost control and compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements. Experience in hotel accounting or hospitality environments is advantageous. What you would do
- Maintain up-to-date financial records, ledgers and supporting documents.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management accounts.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies.
- Monitor daily revenue across departments and reconcile with cash, POS and bank transactions.
- Reconcile OTA bookings, commissions, settlements and outstanding payments.
- Assist in preparing annual budgets, departmental budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor expenditure against budgets and analyse variances.
- Provide financial analysis to support planning and decision-making.
- Implement controls to prevent fraud, waste and unauthorised transactions.
- Maintain cash flow and banking records and ensure timely reconciliations.
What they are asking for
- Bachelor degree or HND in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
- Professional qualification such as ICAN or ACCA is desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in hospitality or similar environments.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management and cost control.
- Experience with accounting software and financial reporting systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office.
- Knowledge of Nigerian tax regulations and statutory obligations.
- Experience with hotel PMS, POS, inventory systems and OTA reconciliations is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, numerical and organisational skills with high attention to detail.
