About this role
The role of Head, Technical Services is based in Lagos and involves providing strategic leadership over underwriting, claims management, reinsurance and risk surveys to ensure the company’s insurance portfolio is sound and profitable. What you would do
- Develop and implement the overall technical strategy in line with corporate objectives.
- Provide expert technical advice to executive management and the board.
- Establish and enforce underwriting, claims, and reinsurance frameworks across all lines of business.
- Approve underwriting philosophies, risk acceptance criteria and authority limits.
- Monitor portfolio performance, loss ratios and risk concentration.
- Ensure compliance with NAICOM regulations and applicable laws.
- Support enterprise risk management and internal control processes.
- Identify emerging underwriting and claims risks and implement mitigations.
- Develop and oversee the company’s reinsurance strategy and placement programs.
- Manage relationships with reinsurers and brokers.
What they are asking for
- Associate or Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (ACIIN/FCII) is required.
- BSc or HND with 7-10 years of experience.
- Additional risk or actuarial certifications are an advantage.
