Head, Structured Trade and Commodity Finance (Financial Services)
About this role
Head of Structured Trade and Commodity Finance (STCF) for iRecruiters Africa Limited, based in Lagos. The role leads the STCF function, setting strategy, originating deals and managing risk, compliance and P&L, with responsibility for a multidisciplinary team and engagement with Nigerian and African clients and partners.
What you would do
- Develop and execute the STCF strategy for Nigerian and African markets
- Originate structured transactions with mid-tier to large corporate producers, traders and state-owned entities
- Lead a multidisciplinary team of structurers, analysts and compliance professionals
- Oversee origination and structuring of STCF solutions and coordinate with Sales & Trading and Syndication to raise capital from banks, lenders and DFIs
- Design and implement risk management and compliance frameworks for STCF transactions
- Build and maintain client and investor relationships and provide advisory solutions to drive revenue growth and manage the P&L
What they are asking for
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics or related field; MBA, CFA or advanced degree is advantageous
- Minimum 10+ years in investment or corporate banking, global commodity trading or development finance, with at least 5 years in a senior STCF or related leadership role
- Proven history originating, financing and structuring commodity transactions and leading teams in emerging markets, preferably Africa
- Deep knowledge of the West African commodity landscape, including Nigerian mining/oil sectors, regional agricultural export cycles and other physical commodities; strong grounding in STCF instruments, structuring techniques and regulatory capital requirements
- Experience with Nigerian financial regulations (Investments and Securities Act, CBN FX regulations) and cross-border trade regulations; ESG or sustainable finance frameworks in emerging markets is a plus
- Extensive client base and network across global banking institutions, DFIs and potential investors; proven ability to drive revenue growth and manage the P&L; strong negotiation and leadership skills
