Head of Operations (Downstream Oil and Gas)

About this role

Role is for a senior operations leader responsible for managing a large fleet and downstream oil and gas logistics, ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective movement of petroleum products across multiple locations. Target candidates have extensive hands-on fleet management experience and can lead nationwide dispatch, route planning, and depot coordination.

What you would do

• Provide leadership for operations, fleet, transportation and logistics functions.
• Oversee performance and productivity of a 100+ truck fleet.
• Develop and manage transportation plans for movement between depots, stations, customers and approved destinations.
• Coordinate route planning, scheduling, dispatch, delivery coordination and timely turnaround.
• Monitor trucks on journeys and track trip status, delays and exceptions.
• Lead driver management, safety, compliance and performance standards.

• Bachelor's degree in Transport Management, Logistics, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related field.
• 10-15+ years in fleet management, transportation, logistics, or operations with senior management experience.
• Strong downstream oil and gas experience in petroleum product transportation, distribution or retail operations.
• Proven experience managing 100+ trucks or large-scale fleets.
• Hands-on expertise in route planning, dispatch, depot coordination, and delivery management.
• Knowledge of fleet maintenance, safety standards, HSE, and Nigerian regulatory requirements.
