Head of Operations
About this role
Ellington Microfinance Bank Limited seeks a Head of Operations to lead and optimise its day-to-day banking operations, strengthen controls, and support growth. The role reports to the CEO and works with Management to improve efficiency, service delivery and regulatory compliance. The position focuses on aligning operations with the bank’s strategy, managing resources, and improving customer experience. It is based in Lekki, Lagos and is a full-time role for a candidate with strong operational leadership in a financial institution.
What you would do
- Advise the CEO and Management on operational priorities and performance improvements.
- Review and improve the operating model for efficiency and scalability.
- Monitor operational performance and resolve critical issues promptly.
- Develop and implement operational plans aligned with business goals.
- Translate management priorities into measurable targets and deliverables.
- Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure accurate, timely service delivery.
- Monitor transaction processing, reconciliations and productivity.
- Establish operational procedures, standards and workflows.
- Ensure resources and processes support products, customers and activities.
- Coordinate with Risk, Compliance and Internal Audit to maintain controls and address risks.
What they are asking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Banking and Finance, Economics, Accounting, Management or related field.
- Sound knowledge of regulatory requirements for a regulated financial institution (CBN).
- Experience leading teams and implementing operational policies and procedures.
- Familiarity with digital banking platforms, transaction processing and process automation.
- Proven track record in operational management, process improvement and service delivery.
- Experience in banking operations within microfinance, deposit-taking or similar regulated institutions.
- Ability to translate business goals into practical operational plans.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management and leadership skills.
- Analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
