Head of Finance Department

About this role

This role is for the Head of Finance Department in Abuja, overseeing the country office’s accounting, financial management and compliance with SI and donor requirements. It targets candidates with NGO or INGO finance leadership experience and fluency in English.

What you would do

• Manage monthly close and approval of expenditures within thresholds
• Oversee annual financial close and preparation of the monthly accounting package
• Monitor cash flow, donor payments and cash requirements for field offices
• Prepare and consolidate budget reports and financial monitoring for management and donors
• Coordinate donor reporting and audits, and ensure compliance with donor rules
• Lead the finance team and ensure internal controls and filing/archiving are in place

What they are asking for

• 3–4 years of NGO/private/public sector experience and 3–4 years in an INGO
• Fluency in English (written and spoken); Hausa is an added advantage
• B.Sc. in Finance, Economics, Business/Public Administration or related field
• Strong Excel and accounting software skills (SAGA preferred)
• Ability to lead budgeting for proposals and perform financial analysis
• Good knowledge of archiving and file/record management
