Head of Finance and Control

About this role

This role leads the finance and control function for the organisation, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance and strong internal controls. It is aimed at professionals with substantial experience in banking or regulated financial institutions, including leadership of finance teams and interaction with regulatory bodies.

What you would do

• Review reconciliations, journals and supporting documentation for accuracy.
• Prepare timely financial statements and management accounts (monthly, quarterly, annual).
• Maintain general ledger and financial records; support audit and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis to support management decisions.
• Monitor regulatory reporting; ensure submissions to authorities are accurate and timely.
• Lead and develop the Finance/Accounts team and oversee internal controls and treasury activities.

What they are asking for

• BSc/HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field.
• ACA, ACCA, ANAN or equivalent membership.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience, including 5 years in banking, microfinance or a regulated financial institution.
• Experience with IFRS and IFRS 9; budgeting, external audits and regulatory reporting.
• Strong commercial and analytical judgement; risk awareness and financial discipline.
• Experience in team leadership and regulatory reporting (CBN/NDIC) preferred.
