Head of Finance and Account

About this role

LawPavilion Business Solutions is seeking a Head of Finance and Accounts in Lagos to lead the finance and accounting function as the company scales. The role covers daily accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, and controls, and acts as a strategic partner to leadership. The person will build and manage the accounts team, ensure accurate financial records, and develop processes suitable for a fast-growing technology and software-as-a-service business.

What you would do

• Oversee end-to-end accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll accounting, and bank reconciliations
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
• Ensure timely statutory compliance and tax filings (VAT, withholding tax, corporate filings)
• Manage statutory, tax, and internal audits and coordinate with auditors
• Design, implement and maintain internal controls and accounting policies
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis with department heads
• Manage cash flow, working capital and treasury operations
• Support leadership with financial insights for pricing, unit economics and investor reporting
• Lead and mentor the accounts and finance team to scale with the company
• Ensure automation and scalability of accounting systems and processes through ERP and software optimization

What they are asking for

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA or equivalent) strongly preferred
• Six to eight or more years of progressive accounting/finance experience with three to five years in a leadership role
• Experience in complete cycle accounting and financial reporting
• Experience in statutory audits and regulatory compliance management
• Ability to build processes in startup or high-growth environments
• Based in Lagos
• Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Oracle NetSuite, or Zoho Books) and tax/regulatory knowledge in the operating jurisdiction
• Experience in technology/SaaS is strongly preferred; experience in legal services or legal technology is an advantage
• Experience reporting to CFO/CEO/board or investors is beneficial
